will kill outstanding events.
- List Queue(s)
List queued events.
Once BCOM is up and running, it's title bar reflects the
communication port values in use. It's setup like the mode command.
There is a number in brackets [] after BCOM that shows which
instance of BCOM this is.
Running Multiple Instances
It is possible to have multiple copies of BCOM running. You may
each BCOM to have its own configuration (.CFG) and (.DAT) file. The
instance is reflected from the command line argument invoked,
example:
win bcomwin.exe 2
would result in the following status line:
BCOM [2] COMx:XXXX:N,8,1
You may enter command line parameters using program manager.
Just select the Icon and under FILE properties:
Program name / command line enter
\DIR\BCOMWIN.EXE 2
This is important for configuration file and dial directory
information only. You CAN have them all share the same
.CFG/.DAT/.HST files but is not advised.
The file BCOMWIN0.CFG reflects instance 0 of a BCOM WINDOWS
configuration file. You may have up to 10 ( 0-9 ) instances of
config files. Remember, if two instances of BCOM attempt to share
the same config file you will receive port open errors upon BCOM
start up. Simply setup the next instance on a differnt port.
File conventions for BCOM WINDOWS are:
.CFG configuration flat files
.DAT dial directory flat files
.HST host banner flat files
BCOM WINDOWS Getting Started
Quick Start
- Please take time to read this guide, it will help you to
understand concepts for file transfer.
- If you know Windows and communications packages fairly well, this
should be a breeze, else read this entire document.
- BCOM generates internal messages that are useful for the user to
track. For example, if the terminal is beeping and you don't know
why, view the screen for "BCOM MESSAGE: <text>".
- BCOM WINDOWS can be run without a mouse, but a couple of features
may not be easily accessed or accessed at all. We have every
attempt to make all panels accessable. It is strongly recommended
to use a mouse.
- All BCOM products make their own configuration/data files.
- WIN.INI Parameters
[BCOM]
dir=c:\windows\bcomwin
BCOM expects the the home directory for BCOM WINDOWS to be
placed in \WINDOWS\WIN.INI file under the "[BCOM]" catagory and use
the "dir" option.
All BCOM executables and configuration files should be saved there.
BCOM expects to read them from this start-up directory. BCOM will
return to this directory and drive when ever it writes
configuration data back to disk.
- BCOM is distributed without .DAT/.CFG files so when BCOM first
comes up it will not find the .CFG file. This makes BCOM initially
ask user for Configuration under the BCOM INIT window. This only
happens when BCOM cannot find the .CFG file. By saving the .CFG
file( under CONFIGURATION pull-down ), BCOM will not ask for
initialization parameters unless requested to under the
CONFIGURATION pull-down. BCOM does distribute a sample host welcome
file ( .HST ). This will be displayed to HostMode users if placed
in the Host\Download directory. ( see Configure/Set Strings )
- BCOM will never save the .CFG file unless explicitly told to do
so under configure pull-down.
Start BCOM. Fill in the COM PORT configuration information.

DIAL DIALOG BOX GENERAL LAYOUT
Dial Directory
You will probably find that next to file transfer, the dial
directory is the most used feature of BCOM WINDOWS. The screen is
split into two parts, left and right. The left side is the dial
directory list box and has one push-buttons "dial". By selecting a
dial entry ( either by mouse or keystroke ), you may then click the
dial button to dial that entry.
BCOM will then exit this dialog box back to main canvas and proceed
to auto-dial( over and over ) until a connection is established.
You may hit a keystroke at any time before connect and BCOM will
abort the auto-dial.
The dial dialog box: The right side of the box is the edit dial
entry panel. By clicking on a dial entry listbox on the left side
BCOM will automatically load the entry side with its related
information ( baud, parity, etc. ). You may edit these values and
click on the UPDATE button to make changes valid for this entry. By
clicking on QUIT or DIAL without clicking on UPDATE, BCOM will not
save these edited entry values. The VALIDATE button actually tells
BCOM to update the BCOMWINx.DAT file on disk when dial dialog box
is closed either by dial or quit. 'x' is the instance of BCOM
specified from the properties or the command line.
The number entered in the edit section is prefixed by an "AT"
generated from BCOM. This is a HAYES stanard string for ATtention.
Also prefixing the dial number is either the DialSuppStr 1 or 2(
see Configure/Set Strings ).
The DialSuppStr2 radio button allows user to choose between the
Supplement Dial String 1 & 2 under the Configure pull-down Set
Strings option. This is necessary for MNP and NON-MNP user init
strings etc. Of course, DialSuppStr1 is set to "DT" and is the
default. Either DialSupp 1 or 2 are inserted after the "AT" and
before the dial number. If some calls require additional MNP AT
commands or central office switch call waiting disable/progress
(*#9, etc ) keys they may be entered here as well.
The BBS radio button is selected to tell BCOM that this dial entry
is a BBS and can be included in the BBS rotary dial pool when the
Dial pull-down BBS Dialer option is invoked.
BBS Dialer
The BCOM BBS Dialer is a great utility for trying to connect with
your favorite BBS computer nodes. By selecting/tagging the BBS
radio button in the dial directory dialog box for a dial entry,
that entry is now available for rotary dialing from BBS Dialer.
BCOM starts with the first entry available from the tagged entries,
dials and waits for a connect string. If BUSY or NO CONNECTION is
available, BCOM simply goes to the next BBS entry. This process
continues and wraps back to the beginning entry until a connect is
received. Once a connect is received, BCOM automatically drops the
BBS Dialer and stays connected. If you have terminal connect beeps
option turned ON, BCOM will continue to beep notifying you of the
connect. Simply hit any key to kill the beeps. You may kill the BBS
Dialer at any time by hitting the keyboard.
Notify Beeps
If you have terminal connect beeps option turned ON, once a Dial
Directory or BBS Dialer connection has been established, BCOM will

Initialize Box General Layout
The COM PORTS dialog box supplies the user the ability to configure
the com port in order to talk to your modem properly. Once
configured, use the SAVE option under the configure pull-down. This
saves this configuration to disk and BCOM WINDOWS will use this
upon session start-up. Remember, Dial directory configurations that
are selected and dialed override the start-up configuration. The
CANCEL push-button will not re-configure BCOM.
Flow Control
Flow control option is necessary for BCOM users with error
correcting modems (MNP/V.32). Flow control must be set to hardware
(CTS/RTS) handshaking in order for proper operation of buffering
binary data with high line speeds. See Appendix on ERROR CORRECTING
MODEMS. Software flow control works fine for most canvas oriented
operations.
Type Connection
A NULL-MODEM connection is helpful for users not requiring a modem.
When using this and various BCOM functions, BCOM will bypass
waiting on modem resets and certain other input. MODEM connection
should be used for most typical uses of BCOM WINDOWS.
DTR or +++ Reset
This option toggles between DTR transistion and "+++" strings
before reset. Most new modems support "&D2" for DTR transistion
to move the user offline required before reset. The DTR transistion
is faster than "+++" strings which must be sent during a timing
window. If you cannot use the DTR transistion use "+++".
Set Strings
A dialog box will appear containing a set of BCOM strings.
Though individual edit boxes only show 24 characters, they often
contain up to 80. Use your left and right arrow keys to edit.
- Modem Initialization String
This string is responsible for initializing your modem. BCOM
actually only invokes this string in hostmode. Most modems allow
you to store init strings in the modems CMOS memory. A simple modem
reset normally restores the modem to saved initialized values. This
is the method BCOM WINDOWS prefers you do. BCOM does however, allow
you to manually invoke this string from the SESSION pulldown.
- Modem Reset String
Most modems use the "ATZ" string to reset. Some have multiple setup
profiles that allow a "ATZ0" or "ATZ1" to make that profile
current. This string once sent to modem, actually does a hardware
reset of the modem. BCOM allows this string to be sent manually
under the SESSION pull-down and hostmode also uses it.
- Modem Connect String
Once dialed to another user, BCOM waits for the modems to connect.
This string is what BCOM expects to receive from the modem a valid
connection. Reserved invalid connections are BUSY, ERROR, and NO_
cause BCOM to hang-up and retry. The connect string default is
"CONNECT", which is available on most every modem with extended
verbose codes of X1 or greater. Other than the above invalid
strings, the connect string only need be located somewhere in a
carriage line terminated line. For example, with a configured
connect string of "CONNECT" <default>, and with received data from
modem of:
CONNECT 9600<cr> or 9600 CONNECT<cr> is OK, valid connect
but
NO CONNECT<cr> or just CONNECT with no <cr> is NOT OK.
- Host Initialization String
This should be used to invoke your modem into auto-answer mode.
When using BCOM HostMode, BCOM sends this string after modem resets
so host may again go into auto-answer mode. The Host Initialization
String is really used as auto-answer string and can be manually
sent to the modem under the SESSION pull-down.
- Host Password String
This string is used in BCOM HostMode. When remote users or BCOM
QueFiles are attempting login to your HostMode, BCOM HostMode
verifies this string to allow access to top level HostMode only.
This only allows remote users access to the following HostMode
commands:
1. Chat
2. Dir ( host/download directory only )
3. Transfer protocol
4. Send file ( from host/download directory only )
5. Receive file ( from host/download directory only )
The user may not access DOS, change directories, or delete files.
Remote QueFile users must have your Host Password String in order
for their QueFile request to be valid.
- Host Password for DOS cmds
This string if properly entered by remote user, allows access to
sensitive DOS commands:
1. Change directory!
2. Delete files!
3. All other HostMode DOS commands.
BE CAREFUL WHO YOU GIVE THIS PASSWORD. You may need to change
it periodically.
- Host/Download Directory
When BCOM enters HostMode or Receives files from other computers,
BCOM places files/transactions into this directory. Remote users
using HostMode are only allowed to view/send/receive to this
directory without having the Host Password for DOS.
- Supplement Dial String 1
This is the default string inserted before dial number out of the
BCOM dial directory. It is intended to supplement the dial number
as to GROUP types of numbers with a common string like:
AT cmd Group
───────────┼───────────────────────────────────────
9, │ to dial outside from PBX
DP │ dial using pulse
&Q5 │ use Error Correcting Dial string etc.
Here is how the dial string is built:
"AT"..................... provided by BCOM
"Dial supp 1 or 2"....... provided by DialSupp 1|2 string
"DialNumber"............. provided by dial directory number
AT + DialSuppStr 1 or 2 + DialNumber > modem
It is up to you to configure groups as you see fit.
- Supplement Dial String 2
Additional supplement string. See Supplement Dial String 1.
- Security Password
BCOM WINDOWS security password. ( not available to shareware BBS
users ). Provides login security for BCOM.
- Reserved 1
Character format for reserved BCOM functions DO NOT ATTEMPT to
change this string. BCOM changes this while updating toggle
features within the package.
- Xfer Char MaxWait Timeout
This is the MAX time in seconds that BCOM will wait for a character
during file transfer. On very slow computers with slow connections
and multi-tasking operating systems such as WINDOWS, it is
sometimes possible to actually timeout waiting for characters
during file transfer. By raising this number, you can fix this
problem.
Quick View
Allows the user to see all toggle features of BCOM. Toggle features
are such as Flow Control. This is very helpful since toggle
features are spread out over pulldown menus and must be toggled to
see what state their in. Select this option and BCOM places a
printout information onto the canvas.
Bells/Whistles
Allow/DIS-allow the terminal to beep at all times.
Now BCOM has .WAV support. Files located in the WIN.INI [BCOM]
group, dir= option directory are played instead of the standard
windows blah sounds. Currently a header BCOMISUP.WAV plays a
greeting and BCOMBEEP.WAV is the multi-media beep. Record your own
if you dont like these.

Session Pulldown
Modem Init String
Send the modem initialization string to the modem.
This string is set in Set Strings under configuration pull-down.
Modem Reset String
Send the modem reset string to the modem.
This string is set in Set Strings under configuration pull-down.
Send File
Send Files to another user. Select from the first dialog box the
transfer protocol. Choose from:
1. Xmodem ( old but widely used, 128 byte packets )
2. Ymodem/Batch ( 128/1024 mixed packets, widely used )
3. Ymodem-G ( 128-1024 mixed great for file xfer with error
correcting modem, BETTER than Zmodem ) T
4. Ascii ( straight file send, No protocol )
5. Zmodem is listed but has been pulled due to Ymodem and
Ymodem-G are more complete and available solutions.
Now select the file or ( filespec using *.*, *.exe, etc. ) in the
get file info dialog box. A pathspec edit box is supplied for
changing drive/directories quickly. The file must appear in the
filespec box before BCOM can continue by clicking "OK". If at this
point you wish to cancel file transfer, just click "QUIT".
Now the last WINDOW comes up, the BCOM FILE TRANSPORT WINDOW.
BCOM is ready to transfer the file. BCOM has a BCOM TALK edit box
( Copyright 1989,1993 BCOM COMPUTER ). This allows all BCOM
(DOS/WINDOWS/OS-2/UNIX) users ( in all file transfer protocols but
ascii) to chat with other BCOM users while send/rec files are in
progress.
Simply type message into the talk edit box and hit enter or press
the START/SEND MESSAGE button while transfer is underway. When the
remote user receives your message, the edit box will empty,
allowing you to generate more messages. When the remote user sends
a message, it will be placed on the bottom section under "BCOM
REMOTE:".
To quit file transfer once underway, either hit the 'esc' key or
close the transport window. Please be patient if file transfer is
aborted, BCOM will try to close down the session orderly. It may
appear that file transfer is complete except it's waiting for
acknowledgement from remote user.
Receive File
Is essentially the same as Send File with these exceptions.
It receives files!
Ymodem and Ymodem-G do not require filename input. The filename is
automatically handled by BCOM and files will NEVER be overwritten.
BCOM uses an automatic naming convention for files that exist by
placing a '$' in each character position in the name until a truly
unique name can be resolved. Example:
You have a file called "JUNK.TXT" and BCOM is receiving a file
called "JUNK.TXT" BCOM will:
call this new file "$UNK.TXT" ...and so on.
When using ASCII and XMODEM, a filename will be requested. If BCOM
is on the remote side it will however, do automatic naming.
To quit file transfer once underway, either hit the 'esc' key or
close the transport window. Please be patient if file transfer is
aborted, BCOM will try to close down the session orderly. It may
appear that file transfer is complete except it's waiting for
acknowledgement from remote user.
Capture File
Once invoked, BCOM will allow you to enter a logfile name where you
can capture all sent/received characters. This is terminated when
this feature is selected again, and the file is closed. Doing a
file transfer or leaving the package will also result in logfile
being closed automatically.
Host Mode
Provides unattended remote access to your computer. Remote users
may either dial up your HostMode and use the menus provided or use
their BCOM WINDOWS to QueFiles to your HostMode. Select HostMode
which will queue a Hostmode event. As soon as BCOM can free up
other events it will reset modem and say "BCOM hostmode reset and
ready!". At this point other users may dial into your system. In
order for them to use your system they must have your Host Password
String but NOT your Host Password for DOS. The remote user will be
presented a menu to choose from:
╔═══════════════════════════════════╗
║ c) hat ║
║ g) oodbye! ║
║ s) end file < filespec > ║
║ l) eave file < filespec > ║
║ x) fer protocol ║
║ D0S commands: dir <spec> ║
║ cd, rd, md, del, type <fn> ║
║ ║
╚═══════════════════════════════════╝
For example, a remote user can elect to have your HostMode send
them a file. Simply select the xfer protocol "x" and type the
appropriate letter (ymodem default). Then, type "s filespec". If
BCOM can find the file, it will say "GET READY FOR FILE XFER". If
not it will report a problem. The remote user of HostMode can
ALLWAYS type "dir", and BCOM HostMode will show the Host/Download
directory. If the user has successfully answered the DOS password,
the user may select a new directory other than the Host/Download
Directory by using the "cd" command, like "cd .."
NOTE: By design, this limits users without the DOS shell password
to only the Host/Download directory for security.
Passwords are the only case sensitive strings in HostMode.
All input in HostMode is carriage return terminated.
If the line becomes idle for over 2 minutes, BCOM HostMode will
clear the user and reset the line stating "IDLE TIMEOUT EXCEEDED".
To display a custom banner to users after they have logged in,
place a ascii file called BCOMWINx.HST in your host/download
directory. Of course the x in BCOMWINx stands for the instance of
BCOM in use (see top of DOC).
This file can be as long as you want but place a 'ctrl-l' character
in the first column of any place you would like the banner to pause
and make the user hit a key to continue. A 'ctrl-l' any other place
than column 1 results in a form feed to the remote user. Maximum
line length allowed in .HST file is 255 characters.
Host mode may be entered automatically upon WINDOWS startup if you
do the following:
1. Place a copy of BCOM WINDOWS in the PROGRAM MANAGER STARTUP
GROUP, this is like the DOS autoexec.bat file.
2. Using the FILE option of Program Manager, select Prefrences.
Add to the command line option:
\WINDOWS\BCOMDIR\BCOMWIN.EXE 0 /h
The '0' zero is the instance and the '/h' tells bcom to enter host
mode upon execution.
This also means if you place "WIN"in your autoexec.bat file you can
make BCOM WINDOWS always enter host mode if your computer is
powered on.
Auto Ans String
Send the Host Initialization string to the modem. This string
should be configured to place you modem into auto-answer.
A FAST 19200:N,8,1
Fast configure option for Baud rate of 19200, No parity, 8 data
bits and 1 stop bit on the current port in use. If your computer is
not using a 16550 high perforance port WINDOWS may be unstable.
B FAST 19200:E,7,1
Fast configure option for Baud rate of 19200, Even parity, 7 data
bits and 1 stop bit on the current port in use. If your computer is
not using a 16550 high perforance port WINDOWS may be unstable.
C FAST 9600:N,8,1
Fast configure option for Baud rate of 9600, No parity, 8 data bits
and 1 stop bit on the current port in use.
D FAST 9600:E,7,1
Fast configure option for Baud rate of 9600, Even parity, 7 data
bits and 1 stop bit on the current port in use.
Offline + ResetModem
A DTR transistion or "+++" offline and reset string followed by the
Modem Initialization String are sent to the modem. An "OK" is
expected back for both strings to get a BCOM MESSAGE: BCOM reset
successful. Else, unsuccessful.

Terminal Pulldown
Option Emulators
This option is not currently installed.
Echo
Default is no, which indicates the remote computer must echo back
characters you type in order for you to see them. Most host
computer's do this, but when chatting with friends from computer to
computer you will want to turn ECHO on, so you can see what your
typing!
CRLF/LF
Carriage return/Line Feed expansion On or OFF. When OFF (default),
Carriage returns received from a remote user do not scroll your
screen. This is because when attached to remote computer Hosts,
they offer Line Feeds with Carriage returns that do scroll your
screen. Like ECHO, turn this on when talking to someone's computer
that is not in a Host mode. When talking to a Host type computer
turn off else you'll get double line feeds.
Parse ANSI info
BCOM WINDOWS doesn't intend to peruse ANSI emulation in the windows
environment. It actually becomes obsolete since windows can be as
small as 1 line by 40 columns wide, or smaller. Some BBS's and
others do not fully turn off ANSI escape sequences even when asked
to switch graphics mode off. This can garbage up a screen quick if
not emulating ANSI. This feature parses these escape character
sequences automatically for you when turned on. So though screens
may not be perfect, they are quite readable.
Clear Screen
Clears the screen ( canvas ).

QueueFile Allows Send and Receive files to/from other BCOM WINDOWS
nodes in the any time day or night 365 days a year completely
automated.
This is great for sending files to unattended BCOM PC's or your
friends BCOM HostMode in the middle of the night ( when long
distance rates are low ).
This allows unattended PC to unattended PC operations to be
performed. Most com packages make you use lengthy or hard to use
scripts. This is a snap. The only problem is your friend needs BCOM
also.
Start by clicking on an entry in QueFile listbox ( on the top half
of the screen ). This is where new QueFile information will go.
Now go to the "File Section". If you want to send a file, click on
an available file in the listbox or enter a filename in the
filename edit box. if you would like to receive a file, you'll have
to use the edit box because BCOM doesn't have a list of the files
from the remote node. Wildcards may be used in the filename edit
box. If you desire to change the directory, simply enter a new
path name in the top edit box and click on the refresh button.
The home directory is the BCOM host/download directory.
Select/Tag the filespec to a dial directory name/entry from the
dial directory listbox to the immediate bottom right. These dial
directory entries ( remote PC's ) must have BCOM WINDOWS running in
HostMode to allow this QueFile request to be successful. Now click
on the "QUEUE" push-button. The file should now go to the upper
listbox, the QueFile listbox. This file is now Queued.
The Standard state of all entries is QUEUE. This means BCOM is
checking for valid Time/Day stamp to launch this operation. All
QueFile entries have the date BCOM WINDOWS started up. BCOM WINDOWS
matches the real date with the QUEUE date. If they are the same and
the time matches or the time has already occured for this DATE BCOM
will launch the process. The process is on a thirty second queue so
you will have approximately thirty seconds to hit delete and purge
the process. By clicking on the "RELEASE" push-button, you will
effectively bring this QueFile entry current to time and date, thus
BCOM will try to execute once leaving this dialog box using the
"QUIT" push-button. This is convienient when a date has changed or
you want an immediate launch.
BCOM will never execute a QueFile while this dialog box is up,
giving you a chance to change your mind and "DELETE" it. You may
manually edit the date/time on the lower right side of the screen
to specify any other EXACT match format:
BCOM must have an exact MM:DD( month:day ) match for the date from
your computer. NOTE: Thus it is possible to MISS a match around
midnight BE CAREFUL on staggering queued files.
Once a date is matched however, BCOM can determine if the file time
has expired for that DAY and execute any expired times for that
day. For example, if the day/time was:
Jun 10 15:33
and your QueFile was day/time stamped:
Jun 10 11:22
BCOM would immediately start this operation.
HOWEVER, if the QueFile was day/time stamped:
Jun 09 15:35
you would have 2 minutes before the operation would launch.
Valid Recognized Months ( 3 char, CAP first letter ):
Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec.
Valid Recognized Days ( Zero Padded 01-09 ):
01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10-31.
Valid Recognized Time is Military ( 5 character colon zero
padded, colon separator HH:MM )
where HH is hours 00-23
and MM is minutes 00-59
1:00pm in the afternoon would be 13:00.
Once a QueFile is in progress, it will attempt to auto-dial ( over
and over ) the tagged dial entry until a "CONNECT" is established.
If other QueFiles should be queued for execute, they must wait,
FIFO( first in(match) first out ) for the first one to finish (
ABORT or DONE! states) but will execute after the QueFile in
progress is terminated. Once connected, BCOM WINDOWS will send an
encrypted start command and your Send/Receive operation will be
processed. If at this point your password is correct, BCOM will do
file transfer else it will abort your session and this will be
indicated in your QueFile Dialog listbox. States for QueFiles are:
QUEUE - valid, being checked.
ABORT - Either invalid ( NON-BCOM ) node at other end or
BCOM aborted transfer due to bad password.
DIAL
DONE! - operation completed.
The "DELETE" push-button cancels the highlighted QueFile entry and
deletes it from the dialog box. It clears out queue position and
returns state to QUEUE.
BCOM currently keeps all QueFile information in memory only. Future
implementations will allow users to send QueFile request files from
node to node, and request BCOM to work load list from disk.
Enable/Disable
You may want to disable remote users from using BCOM QueFile on
your PC for security reasons. When Disabled, remote users
attempting to QueFile onto your PC results in an ABORT state on
their PC QueFile entry. This provides an addition level of security
for you. Remember, they must still have your password in order to
get files from your disk. As well, they only have acess to your
Host/download directory.

Error Correcting Modems
- When using MNP modems, it is necessary to set the line speed
between the computer ( via BCOM ) higher than your modem carrier
can connect with. For example, a 2400 baud MNP style modem can
usually have a line speed up to 9600 bps. This usually results in
return codes of CARRIER 2400 with a CONNECT 9600. A 9600 MNP modem
can run at 19.2Kbps or even 36Kbps. This is due to the fact that
the modem can compress and buffer data. This often results in
bursts of data to and from the PC. It is necessary to monitor and
raise/lower hardware signals to prevent data overrun or even loss.
Set your modem to monitor CTS/RTS signals for HARDWARE FLOW
CONTROL. When using Error Correcting Modems, do the following:
1. Physically set up modem according to the modems owners
manual.
2. Use the DialSuppStr2 option in the dial directory for MNP
users. This way, NON-MNP users default to DialSuppStr1.
Place the setup string for your modem that places it into
Error Correct mode in:
a. CONFIGURE Pulldown
1. Set Strings
a. DialSuppStr2
3. Set the baud rate as high as the modem/BCOM can handle.
4. Under CONFIGURE pulldown, set flow control to HARDWARE.
BCOM's H/W flow implements CTS/RTS. Buffers are 10k.
5. Use the Ymodem-G protocol for MNP transfers. This protocol
does minimal error checking and has high performance.
